Count My Blessings Tags

Hi friends, how are you? My blog has been pretty quiet lately, but I’ve been really busy crating! Our Stamp of the Month Club just keeps getting bigger and I absolutely love and appreciate all of our members.

Each month I design and create a tag for each of them as a little way to show my appreciation. These Count My Blessing tags were so much fun to make.

I embossed the leaves in gold and them used my aqua painter to watercolor them.

The ribbon was a leftover freebie that I had in my stash. It’s always nice to use ribbon up on my customers, rather than hoarding it all to myself!

Here they are, all piled up and ready to mail!

I’m currently working on the November Stamp of the mOnth Club, which should get mailed by the 20th this month, if all goes as planned! I’m also designing the December Stamp of the month Club and I’m excited about the two cards I have so far. Stay turned for the big reveal!

Count My Blessings

When the Stampin’ Up Holiday catalog first arrived, my heart did a little flip flop for the Count My Blessings stamp set.

The images are simply gorgeous. To make them easier to watercolor, I embossed them in gold. The gold was hard to capture on camera, but here you can see it better. Embossing also makes them easier to fussy cut.

To watercolor the acorn, I used ink squished into the lid of my stamp pad and an aqua painter. I also did a watercolor wash on the cardstock behind the fancy foil.

Our October Stamp of the Month Club members will receive the supplies to make this card along with three others.

Speaking of blessings at the top of my list, the Stamp of the Month Club continues to grow and I’m so thankful for all of our lovely members. Thank you all!

A Season of Joy

Hi, friends, how are you today?

This time last year, we did not know if our oldest son was going to make it. He had a mysterious illness that made him very sick. He stopped talking and swallowing and even quit breathing three different times. He spent the better part of 10 months in hospitals and ICUs. In addition to that, our adopted children were recovering from surgery. Our daughter had life saving heart surgery (we did not know she had a serious heart defect when we adopted her) and our newly adopted son had surgery to correct a birth defect. That was a lot for one family to deal with and I coped by eating. Well, crying and eating.

Lots of crying.

Lots of eating.

Lots and lots of eating.

I quickly put on an extra 23 pounds, which caused my health to go downhill.

High blood pressure, high cholesterol, heartburn and reflux, insomnia and pre-diabetes all plagued me. Not to mention the trauma of watching our children suffer. Is there anything harder on a mother’s heart than to watch her babies go through unthinkable pain while she stands helplessly by?

But on January 30th, I made the best change of my life. I joined Crossfit. That first night I could not hang from the pull up bar or do a single box jump. (The idea of jumping on a box terrified me, to be truthful!) But my coaches worked with me and little by little, I began to get strong.

In addition to exercise, Crossfit gave me a meal plan that taught me healthier ways to eat. I cut out soda and salted caramel mochas and all the unhealthy foods I loved.

I started sleeping peacefully, even though my son would not get better for many months. My heartburn and reflux went away completely and my cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure all fell in the normal range.

I have now dropped 30 pounds and have never felt better. My kids are all fully recovered, too. Our son made a miraculous recovery that doctors thought was impossible. Our daughter, who could have died, is now healthy and cleared for all activity, including vigorous exercise, and our son’s birth defect is corrected and will never be a problem again.

The before photo above was taken at the Stampin’ Up! Onstage event in Utah while I was on the Stampin’ Up! Design Team and the after photo was taken last month, after seven months of hard work and eating healthy. I have never felt better!

But you know what the best part is? All the people who loved me just the way I was. My hubby, my family and friends, my fellow design team members. Thank you one and all for loving me no matter what I look like and thank you Crossfit for making me healthy and strong!

Our days of sorrow have finally gone, replaced with days of joy. Last year is starting to feel like a distant memory as we enjoy our son’s recovery and the good health of our little kids, as well as my own. To say we are thankful is an understatement.

So many of you were part of our journey to now- thank you for every bit of support. It truly means the world.

When I first saw this set, I fell in love. I knew I wanted to design cards with that big acorn and the lovely flowers. The beauty of this set is that it is very versatile and not just for fall. It can easily be used for many occasions.

Check out the gorgeous images for Count My Blessings here:

Christmas Tag Class

Recently, I was thrilled to be asked to donate a Christmas Tag Class to a local auction. Talk about a fun class to design. I was like a little kid in a candy store!

The new Holiday Catalog was not yet available to order from, so I designed this class with some of the AMAZING Christmas items in the Annual Catalog.

Each guest will create 20 gift tags that will be presented in this adorable plastic mason jar from www.thesugardiva.com. I’m crazy for that ribbon and those tiny boxwood wreaths! They literally made me squeal the first time I saw them.

And this reindeer? Too cute!

Don’t you just love the shape of the pretty label punch? Gorgeous!

To display the tags, I placed a piece of DSP, scored into a triangle, in the center of the jar and taped the linen thread ties to the inside of the triangle. (I got that idea from a jar of tags I bought at Target last year. Brilliant!)

The DSP insert really helps all the tags to show nicely and this project would be perfect for gift giving.

There are five tag designs all together and class members will create four of each.

In the excitement of the new Holiday Catalog, don’t forget that Stampin’ Up! has a large collection of gorgeous Christmas designs to choose from in the Annual Catalog.

Maybe some of these sets are already in your own collection. Which one is your favorite? (Complete supply list below.)

Happy stampin’ friends!

Lemon Zest Tags

Hello friends! How are you today?

One of my favorite things to create is tags. Each month I create a tag to coordinate with our Stamp of the Month Club. For our August Club, I was inspired by a gorgeous stair case in an Italian restaurant. Just lookout at these hand painted tiles!

With this photo as my inspiration and the beautiful Lemon Zest stamp set, I designed these cards for our club members:

Once the club boxes were put together, I set to work designing a gift tag as a small token of appreciation to our club members. The Lemon Zest stamp set by Stampin’ Up! makes creating fun designs a cinch!

Don’t they look pretty, all piled up and ready to mail out?

As I write this blog post, my state is under a thick blanket of smoke and our city has an advisory that the smoke is so heavy, we should stay indoors. The health hazard is so high, many school have canceled the first day tomorrow.

As we struggle to deal with the smoke, and many residents are forced to flee their homes, I am also reminded of all the dear people affected by hurricanes and flooding. There is so much devastation right now! If you are affected by any of the devastation, please know I hold you in my heart and prayers!

With much love,

Michelle
