Sometimes creativity is hard to force. Other times, a card flows naturally, even effortlessly. TODAY’S CARD WAS NOT THAT CARD! I created the wood background and then it just sat there. For days. No matter how hard I tried, I could not come with a layout or combination I liked.
It all started when I found this challenge over at one of my favorite blogs:
If you have not been there, go visit thepaperplayers and see all of the GORGEOUS cards. The designers and the entrants always amaze me. Now, I’m not gonna lie, I think part of my problem with this card was I was intimidated! I had oohed and aahed my self into a place of fear.
Fear is terribly bossy. It whispers mean things. Things like: mine isn’t good enough. I’m not that creative. I can’t measure up.
I’ve been trying to stretch myself, get out of my comfort zone, and overcome fears like these. So, I stopped listening to the voice of fear, went back to the drawing board, kept trying, and finally came up with this card. Here is a close up:
And guess what? I like it! Friends, if you are reading this, and you can relate to fear creeping in and spoiling your creativity, just know this: yours is good enough. You are creative. You measure up. Don’t let fear get in the way of your creativity today. Let go, have fun, and remember you can do it!
Happy stampin’ friends!
Michelle
I’m so glad that you didn’t give up because that card is absolutely gorgeous! I love the whole leaf/flower/acorn corner! Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players.
Thank you so much!
What a great card – well done for persevering! I love that little yellow flower – it adds a real pop of colour and reminds me of late summer sunflowers. Thanks so much for joining us at The Paper Players this week!
Thanks, Joanne, a sunflower is exactly the look I was going for!
You should NEVER be afraid that your creations are not good enough! This is just lovely and I was wistfully thinking that I wish I had thought to use that big element from Eleanot like you did! I think I must pin and CASE this sometime soon! Perfectly lovely! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Paper Players this week!
Wow- that means so much to me, thank you!
Oh! Michelle. I know what you mean. I can’t tell you the number of times I have started a card and then just left it because I was totally unsure where to go next. Well, your time away from the card was worth it, because it turned out beautifully. So glad you joined us at the Paper Players and thank you so much for your kind words!

Thank you for the support- it’s nice to know others go through a “stuck” phase, too!
BEAUTIFUL – glad you didn’t give up! Your card stands out among so many thumbnails and made me click – now I am a fan of YOU! Keep up the GREAT work!!!
You made my day-thank you!
So beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing about fear…it really is a thief!! I let it rob me when I start to do projects too! But thanks to your inspiration, I’m going to start saying, “NO!” to fear!!! Thank you!
Way to go! We don’t have to operate from a place of fear- “Perfect love casts out fear!”
