Last week, I created a gift for my daughter’s teacher that included a Rolo pencil and I had a request for the directions from my upline, Babara. (Who just happens to also be my wonderful Aunt!)
These are very popular on Pinterest and I don’t know who first came up with the idea- but they are so cute the recipient may not want to eat the Rolos. I had fun figuring out how to make them, so here we go!
The colors are Strawberry Slush, Silver Foil, and Crushed Curry. Cut your cardstock to these dimensions:
Punch a one inch circle from the Strawberry Slush cardstock:
On the wrong side, and at 1/4″ intervals, score the Silver Foil piece and the Crushed Curry piece.
Here, I’ve turned them right side up so the score line shows better in the photos:
You may notice the Crushed Curry has a wonderful texture. That’s because it’s made with Core’dinations cardstock, a discontinued item which is currently still available on the clearance rack! The pack, normally $23.95, is now just $9.59 and comes with 40 pieces of 12×12 cardstock that is sandable, tearable, and distressable in every color of the regals collection. Love it!
Now, back to the pencil. Gently fold each scored line on the Crushed Curry piece so that it will easily go around the Rolos, like this:
On all three of your pieces, place sticky strip on the back, along both edges.
Remove the backing and adhere the Crushed Curry piece to the pack of Rolos.
Add the Strawberry Slush piece next, and then the Silver Foil piece. If you do it just right, all of your edges will line up.
Hot glue the 1″ Strawberry Slush circle to the eraser end. I recommend a low temp hot glue gun, but you still have to be careful not to burn your fingers.
Cut the little paper off the Hershey’s Kiss and hot glue it to the other end. Can you tell I never get a manicure? Yikes!
And voila! An adorable pencil to give away. (Or who knows, you might want to keep it for yourself!)
Mine was for my daughter’s teacher, so I paired it with a classic composition notebook, real red ribbon and a little tag I made with My Digital Studio. So fun!
What to make one?
Along with a low temp glue gun, a pack of Rolos and a Hershey’s Kiss,
here’s what you’ll need:
Happy stampin’ friends!
