Chalkboard Fun for Freshly Made Sketches

FMS 167

I recently purchased the digital download “To You From Me” and I am in love. It is a charming collection of chalkboard style labels and gift tags- so cute! The round one was the perfect piece to create a card for this week’s challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.

Here is Narelle’s lovely sketch:

I just love the chalkboard tags. Come back later this week to see my Christmas table all decked out with chalkboard label napkin rings!

I’m sure I’m not the first to think of it, but I wanted to create holly leaves so I realized I could punch out an oval and then punch around the edges with a small circle punch. I then used a dauber to darken the edges.

Even though the sketch is a rectangle, I decided to make mine a square. It just seems to work for this card.

Here’s what I used to create this card. You can order these items from my online store by clicking on any of the images.

I hope you are well and having a happy holiday season. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Happy stampin’ friends!

  1. Really really cute!!! And very clever…the way you made the holly! Love it! I have the my digital studio…but haven’t really used it much…I really want to get into that because you have made some really nice things with it!!!

  2. These are very cool….in fact, I ordered these myself after seeing your tags! However, I am not quite sure how to achieve the look of chalkboard. Did you use Smoky Slate or Basic Gray as your background color, with white as your ink color? And how did you achieve the weathered look? Mine just look solid. My email is leanne dot pugliese at gmail dot com! THanks in advance. I LOVE all your stuff, BTW!

    • Hi LeAnne! Thank you, I love your stuff, too!

The tags come with or without the background, but I had to search around to find them with the background.

      Here are some easy steps:
      1. Create a custom page- I used 8 and 1/2 by 11.

      2. Go to “embellishments” and click on the “Add Embellishment” box

      3. Find the “To You from Me” file under Designer Kits

      4. Click on it and you should see the chalkboard tags. I filled the page and adjusted the sizes of each tag as needed.

Hope this helps, if not I’ll be happy to email and see if I can help some more- you can also feel free to give me a call. Happy crafting!
