A Baby Card For Freshly Made Sketches

Baby Card For FMS

Have you been over to Freshly Made Sketches lately? Tuesday I woke up to find I had been selected as one of their “Perfect Princesses” and I could not have been more thrilled! I just love all of the beautiful ideas the designers have each week, not to mention the new sketch challenge. Here is this week’s sketch by Amy:

FMS 168
I especially loved this sketch because I am not very good at placing things at an angle, so it was nice to go outside my comfort zone. I ended up loving how the dsp looks at an angle. I will be using this style again!

One thing I find interesting is that I thought of placing the hearts going across the card and created it yesterday before seeing a gorgeous card on the challenge today that uses the same idea, but going the other direction. Can you spot which one I’m referring to? That has happened to me more than once. In fact, once I created a card that was so similar to another card someone else created (without seeing their card first) that I decided not to enter it in the challenge. Hopefully this one is different enough to still enter!

A Sneak Peak for Pals Paper Arts

PPA 232

Even though we are so close to Christmas, I just had to play with some of the wonderful sets from my Sale-A-Bration pre-order today. This card features two of the lovely paper packs and yummy ribbon you can earn for free starting January 6th, as well as delightful new dies, stamps and embellishments. I can’t wait for you to see the new Occasions Catalog- it’s one of my most favorites EVER!

The layout comes from a sketch challenge over at Pals Paper Arts. I just love this sketch:

Supplies: (Most items not available until January 6th)

Sale-A-Bration gets me so excited because for every $50 you spend, you earn an exclusive stamp set, embellishment set or paper pack for free. If you have placed an order with me in the past two years, you will automatically receive the Sale-A-Bration Brochure and Occasions Catalog when they come out in January. So exciting!

Now I’m off to get a few things checked off my to do list. Hope you are well and happy.

Chalkboard Fun for Freshly Made Sketches

FMS 167

I recently purchased the digital download “To You From Me” and I am in love. It is a charming collection of chalkboard style labels and gift tags- so cute! The round one was the perfect piece to create a card for this week’s challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.

Here is Narelle’s lovely sketch:

FMS 167 Sketch

I just love the chalkboard tags. Come back later this week to see my Christmas table all decked out with chalkboard label napkin rings!

I’m sure I’m not the first to think of it, but I wanted to create holly leaves so I realized I could punch out an oval and then punch around the edges with a small circle punch. I then used a dauber to darken the edges.

Even though the sketch is a rectangle, I decided to make mine a square. It just seems to work for this card.

Here’s what I used to create this card. You can order these items from my online store by clicking on any of the images.

I hope you are well and having a happy holiday season. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches 161

Freshly Made Sketches 166

Hi friends!

I really love Linda’s design over at Freshly Made Sketches this week and yesterday I finally got around to creating something with it- yay!

Here is the lovely sketch:

Freshly Made Sketch 166

The really wonderful thing about a great sketch is that it can go in so many different directions. On this sketch, for example, the snowflake could be a button, a flower, an anchor, or so many other things. This time, however, I took the sketch quite literally because I am so in love with the snowflake from the snowflake card thinlits die set. I cut the snowflake and sentiment out in glimmer paper three times and layered them for more dimension.

If you haven’t checked out all of the amazing designers and participants over at Freshly Made Sketches yet, you should! It’s so fun to see all of the creativity and get inspiration for your own creations.

Christmas Plaid for Freshly Made Sketches

Freshly Made Sketches 159

Red plaid for Christmas is one of my favorites, so when I first saw the “Trim the Tree” designer series paper stack in the Holiday catalog, it went at the top of my list. At just $6.95, the stack is an excellent value. You get 48 sheets of gorgeous, double sided paper, in 24 patterns and perfectly sized for all your Christmas cards at 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″.

The layout for today’s card was inspired by another great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. Have I mentioned how much I love that blog? You should check them out!

Here is the sketch:

Happy Wonderful Christmas

PPA 225

The challenges over at Pals Paper Arts are always wonderful. This week’s sketch was no exception, and it immediately made me think of a file folder, so I created this Christmas card.

Here is the sketch:

PPA 225 Sketch

Fun, right? For this card, I used paper from the new holiday designer series paper stack called Trim the Tree, which has 24 designs in all. The creative possibilities are endless!

The envelope punch board is perfect for making file folders. I found several videos online showing different techniques.

The ivory button didn’t match, so I inked it up in versa mark and embossed it in white- much better!

The Christmas tree from the Snowflake Card Thinlits dies is adorable in 3D. A glimmer star on top adds the perfect touch.

Snowflake Card For Freshly Made Sketches

Snowflake Card

Hi friends, so glad you stopped by today! Our family has a new addition, a little puppy who is growing fast, and I am spending all of my time training him. My need to create is so great that I did, however, manage to sneak in one card this week.

Have you spent any time on the challenge blogs? They are a great resource when you need inspiration. One blog that I love to visit every week is Freshly Made Sketches. You should go check it out!

Here is the sketch by Jen T.:

Hi There

Hey S'Up?

Eighteen years ago, our oldest son was born. It was the beginning of October. He was due at the end of December. He weighed in at 3 pounds, 1 and 1/4 ounces. (Quarter ounces count when you’re that tiny.)

We were told he would be a vegetable.

We were told he would never go to school.

They were wrong.

While he is severely disabled physically, and uses a wheelchair, the predictions about school turned out to be completely false.

He is now in his senior year, in a regular school, with regular classes, a full schedule, no modifications, and is earning a 3.8 GPA.

To this I shout- “Way to go, Dude! NEVER let them get you down!”

We are going to celebrate this huge milestone with a “Hey, Dude!” party theme, and I really wanted to create a special card to honor him.

I was inspired for the layout by this week’s sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. I can always count on them for incredible ideas.

Here is the sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches 156

And here is the inside of the card, which I created on my computer and printed on very vanilla cardstock:

Hey S'Up? Inside

If you are reading this, and you have been told discouraging, even devastating news, my heart is with you.

I have lived devastation.

But I have also lived with the incredible joy that only a perfectly able (even though severly disabled) son can bring.

“I will sing of Your mercy, that leads me through valleys of sorrow, to rivers of joy.”

(From “The Valley Song” by Jars of Clay)

Wherever you find yourself right now, may you find “rivers of joy” too, friends.

“Wondrous Wreath” For Fall

Fall Thinking of You

What genius first thought to use the “Wondrous Wreath” stamp set for fall? I have no idea, but I love it, and have seen at least a dozen gorgeous cards with fall wreaths, so here is my version.

I first felt inspired by the SUOchallenges blog to create a card using “autumn colors” then I headed over to Pals Paper Arts blog and found their color challenge:

Pals paper Arts 222

Gorgeous colors for fall, right? If you haven’t checked them out, go visit both of the blogs for beautiful design inspiration.

Here is a close up of my card:

Love the “Wondrous Wreath” stamp set too? You can save 15% when you buy the bundle, which includes the “Wonderful Wreath” framelits dies. Click on the image below and you can go to my online store to order it today. You’ll be creating gorgeous wreaths in no time!

I’m Thankful For

Thankful For You Card

I can always count on Freshly Made Sketches for beautiful design ideas. I just love tags, and I was so excited when I saw Karren’s sketch:

Freshy Made Sketches #155

The new “I’m Thankful For” stamp is beautiful. As you can see in the photo of it below, it has lines for writing, which I wanted to leave off for this card, so I used a Baked Brown Sugar marker to just color the sentiment. Markers are a great way to use part of a stamp.

I got out some of my favorite designer paper, which is now retired (Sorry!), because it looked pretty with the Baked Brown Sugar. In the photo, the stamp and paper are a little different, but in real life the colors match exactly.
