More Fun With Cool Treats

Hi friends! How are you today?

My son continues to battle his illness, which has finally been diagnosed as autoimmune encephalitis. This means his immune system is attacking his brain, which wreaks havoc on both the body and the mind. Recovery can take up to two years. About 25% of people either never recover or pass away, but we hold fast to the hope that he will get better. He has long periods of time when he does not speak, swallow or even know what is going on, but he randomly comes back around and when he does, he is still himself. Words can not describe how wonderful those moments are. If you are interested in learning more, the book “Brain On Fire” by Susannah Cahalan is a first hand account of a young lady who lived through the nightmare of autoimmune encephalitis. It is so similar to Thomas’ battle that I often put it down and just cried.

As a result of his health struggle, which has been going on for almost eight months now, I have not been able to keep up here at Stampin’ 365, yet so many of you have continued to support me. Thank you! These moments of creating and sharing with you are very therapeutic and I appreciate each of you so much. You are why I do this!

So today, I thought I would share an easy little treat sack I created with the Cool Treats Bundle for the display boards at Onstage.

With all the little ice cream cones, sundaes, and popsicles, the Cool Treats bundle is so much fun to play with and perfect for last minute gift giving!

A Fun Watercolor Technique

Hi friends, how are you today?

Here is a tag I created for our February Stamp of the Month Club members, using the Blooms and Wishes stamp set, watercolor paper and an aqua painter.

I just love this easy watercolor technique. Simply stamp your image and while the ink is still wet, use your aqua painter to pull the color out. After it has dried completely, you can add the flower centers and a sentiment. Another tip is to let each color dry completely before stamping the next color, otherwise the two colors will run together.

Have you had a chance to try this technique? Leave us a comment and let us know how you liked it. It’s so much fun to hear form you- you’re the reason I love to share!

Cool Treats Bundle by Stampin’ Up!

Hello, friends, how are you today?

The 2017 Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog has so many fun new bundles. One of my favorites is the Cool treats stamps set and matching dies. These adorable ice cream cones are SO detailed and SO much fun to make!

Stampin’ Tips:

  1. Remove detailed die cuts easily with the Big Shot Die Brush.
  2. Use multipurpose glue, a silicone craft sheet and a piercing tool to glue the tiny sprinkles in place. Simply place a dab of the glue on the craft sheet, dip the toll into the glue and then pick up the sprinkle with it.
  3. Use a versamark pad to add subtle matching detail to your yardstick background.
  4. Due to popularity, the Stitched Dies are currently unavailable, but they will be back! They layer perfectly with the layering ovals, circles and squares if you have those dies already.
  5. Don’t forget to pick up some of the thick baker’s twine to add gorgeous texture to your projects!

New Hostess Code Program in 2017! When placing an online order through me, use the monthly hostess code, and I will send you a handmade thank you card and a surprise collection of paper and embellishments from the new 2017 Occasions catalog as a thank you. (If your order total is $150 or more, you can earn the hostess rewards, so in that case, please don’t use the code.)

The January Hostess Code is: Z9P6FK7A

Happy stampin’ friends!

Many of you have continued to support me during my son’s difficult, sixth month long illness. Thank you so much. The recent news was hard to take. Thomas has severe cerebral palsy and we found out that people with his condition can experience a premature aging of the brain, similar to the dementia elderly people may go through. The neurologist said that the brain shuts down in a very predictable pattern, and our son has followed that pattern over the past six months. He is only 20.

To say this was hard to take is an understatement. Perhaps equally hard to hear is the doctor’s opinion that our son needs a foster home for medically complicated patients. To be honest, I don’t know if I can do that, but have to face the fact that it may be what is best for him. During this hospital stay, he quit breathing twice and required the rapid response team. Obviously, there is no such support in our home.

However, we are hopeful that he could still make a full recovery. When this whole thing started, he was writing a book (My Life On Wheels), talking about starting college, and watching the Downton Abbey series with me. He was fine one day, and not fine the next. To say that I miss him is an understatement. He is still with us, but he only comes back mentally in tiny bits and pieces for a short time.

Miracles still happen, but regardless of the outcome, I am so happy for the gift of Thomas.

Home For Christmas!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays friends!

Are you ready for a fun project and some very happy news? First for the project, is this Christmas tag. Every month, I design and create tags for my Stamp of the Month Club members to show how much I appreciate them. Adding a handmade touch makes such a difference. And now, for the happy news: my son is finally home from the hospital!

He still has a long, hard road to recovery, but it is so wonderful to have him home. For those of you who may not have heard, he became seriously ill on August 1st. He ended up having 8 surgeries and multiple complications, including three different serious infections. More than once, we feared he would not recover. The doctors do not believe he will ever be the same, but we have faith that he will eventually get back to his old self. Regardless, we are so thankful to have him home.

So many of you have reached to show support during this long, difficult time in my life. From the bottom of my heart, thank you! You are the reason I keep this blog and sharing my projects with you is such a joy. Thank you all for taking time to comment, email, send cards and for your love, prayers and support. It has made all the difference in the world.

I have so many fun plans for 2017 and I look forward to sharing them with you.

Happy New Year friends!

A Tag With Basket of Wishes

Hello friends, how are you today?

Here is a sweet little tag I created with the Basket of Wishes stamp set for each of my Stamp of the Month Club members. I just love sending little tags as my way of saying thank you.

For this tag, I used one of my all time favorite products: the handheld stapler. This stapler is a must have and (sniff, sniff) it is going away! I find myself reaching for it again and again.

You should get one for yourself while supplies last!

Stampin’ Tips:

  • Coloring the beautiful basket image is easy with blender pens and ink squished into the lids of your ink pads
  • Add interest to the kraft tag by stamping the sentiment in Versamark ink.
  • Cut apart the burlap ribbon for great, textured trim on all your projects
  • Pick up a handheld stapler before they are gone for good!

A Bookmark With Sunshine Sayings

Hi friends, how are you today?

Here is a fun projects I made recently for my Stamp of the Month Club members. It’s always so fun to include a little handmade bookmark or tag as my way of saying thanks!

Thanks for stopping by today. Come back Thursday for the Artisan Design Team blog hop. You’ll be sure to find lots of inspiration.

Until then…

Happy stampin’ friends!

For those of you who have been keeping up with the health struggles of my oldest son, he is slowly making progress and we are hopeful that he will soon recover fully. This week is a huge improvement over last week and he has been coherent more and more. He even told me he loved me today. Tears of joy flowed down my cheeks. Baclofen pump problems can be fatal, but our precious son is still here. Thank you all for the prayers and support. They mean the world to me.

A Trio Of Treats With Jar of Haunts~ Artisan Blog Hop

Hello, friends, and welcome to another Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop! Today we have the fun of featuring the Jar of Haunts stamp set.

One of the things I hear the most from my customers is how they have a lack of time to create, and let me tell you, I can relate! Preparing this blog hop was a prime example. My to do list was long enough to fill a 48 hour day and I was a woman on the run. I needed some Halloween treats, and I needed them fast. That’s where Stampin’ Up! came to the rescue. I pulled out the Jar of Haunts stamp set and got to work.

On a recent trip to our local home store, I had grabbed some adorable, sugar coated candy corn and a box of spooky eyeball gumballs. For the candy corn, I used the gift sack from the Perfectly Wrapped kit and stamped the tag with Jar of Haunts. Then, I grabbed a mini box, filled it with the eyeballs, added the spooky treat tag with baker’s twine, and I had two treats done in no time at all!

Next, I grabbed some mummy cake pops my hubby had brought me from Starbucks (he’s sweet like that) and added the fun candy corn tag. They were quick to color using blender pens and ink pads, and my third treat was ready to give to someone special.

That’s one of the many things I love about Stampin’ Up!  They make it so easy to be creative in a hurry. Nothing shows you care like a homemade gift or treat. Speaking of caring, a big thanks to all of you for the love and care you have shown me regarding my son. He is still sick and has a series of tests at the hospital this week. Your love, prayers and support have meant the world to me!

Thanks for stopping by today. Now it’s time to go and see what the lovely Rachel has created for us. I can’t wait!
