Have you seen all of the different cascading cards in bloggy land? I had and I was in love. When I googled cascading card, I found frenchiestamps.com and her video tutorial. I owe her a huge thank you! I decided to put photos and step by step directions here for you. If you make a mistake the first time, like I did, don’t give up! This design is definitely worth trying again!
Start with a piece of card stock 8″ by 12″.
Score as 10″, 8″, 6″, 4″, and 2″. (Yours will not have big dotted lines- those represent the score lines which don’t show up well on camara.)
Along the 8″ side, and lightly in pencil, mark one side at 5 1/2″ and the other at 2 1/2″.
Carefully line up the marks on your paper trimmer.
Here is a close up. Pardon my dust!
Carefully cut from one mark to the other.
You will have two matching pieces.
Place the two pieces on top of each other to make sure they match.
On both pieces, and lightly in pencil, mark the longer side at 2 3/4″ and the shorter side at 1 3/4″.
Place a ruler at the two marks.
On the first, middle, and last score line, mark lightly in pencil where the ruler is. Do this to both pieces.
On the first piece, carefully cut up to the marks.
On the second piece, carefully cut down to the marks.
Completely erase all of you pencil marks. Your pieces should look like this.
Fold both pieces at the score lines. It’s ok if you fold the wrong direction- it all works out as it comes together.
Slip each piece together at the slits. You may need to adjust your folds to go the right direction.
Lay the card flat and line up the edges.
Now you’re ready to decorate- the sky’s the limit! I’ve seen castles, circus cards, flowers, Valentine’s Day, and more. Here is mine for 4th of July:
I’ll post directions and supplies for this card later. Right now it’s snack time for my hungry kids!
Happy stampin’ friends!
